The Top 10 Investors Funding Fashion’s Web3 World

According to CB Insights the metaverse could represent a $1 trillion market by the end of the decade. Given the fashion industry is currently undergoing a Web 3.0 gold rush, there are a number of investors predicting where fashion is headed and have great ideas of where the big opportunities lie.

  1. Sound Ventures 

    Co-founded by Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary, this venture capital firm is funnelling millions into metaverse fashion startups. The fund participated in Yuga Labs - the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection - a $450 million seed round, which closed in March giving the 1-year-old company an astounding valuation of over $4 billion. Most recent was their investment in digital fashion house The Fabricant and the company has also invested in Airbnb and Uber.

  2. Groupe Artemis 

    As a leading retail venture capitalist giant, Group Artemis, began investing in retail giants in the 1980s. Their most lucrative venture, Kering, houses multiple luxury giants including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga just to name a few. Artemis prides itself on investing in innovation across all firms and powering the fashion metaverse. 

  3. Balderton

    A major player in European investment is the Balderton Group. This investment firm invests within the financial, computer, food, entertainment and fashion industries. They’ve helped expand Depop making them the premier social network to buy and sell reusable luxury and fashion products. 

  4. Tioga Capital Partners

    European Tioga Capital Partners focus on early stage investment opportunities (late seed and series A) in the blockchain ecosystem. It is their aim to be a long-term partner to exceptional Web3 entrepreneurs. The company recently co-led the funding round in Exclusible is the premium e-retailer for digital goods, raising a total of €2.2 million. Some notable investments include D2X, Atlendis and Casa.

  5. CoinFund 

    Headquartered in NYC and Miami, Coinfund shapes the Web 3.0 market by funding market leaders in their seed, venture, and liquid stages. The cryptonative investment firm and advisorship led the latest round for NFT marketplace Rarible which closed at $14M. It has also made strategic investments in big names such as Dapper Labs which create blockchain-based experiences - think runway shows of the future - and Genies the virtual portable identity for our digital selves.

  6. Greenfield One

    Greenfield One, the early stage crypto VC firm from Berlin run by @LeBastif, @JaschaSamadi, @Felix_macht seeks to invest in the blockchain and cryptocurrency sectors. Recently, the firm led the $14 million round of funding for The Fabricant, a digital fashion house for the metaverse building the wardrobes for tomorrow.

  7. Red Dao

    This investment firm has invested in digital fashion startup Dress X and  “virtual human” company Aww, among others. As stated on their website, “Red DAO will support, purchase, archive, collect, invest in items, and digital garments in the emerging world of digital wearables and fashion”. 

  8. Sequoia Capital 

    Sequoia capital prides itself , “We help the daring build legendary companies.” This investment firm is opening the doors to a Web3 world for its companies. Some of its companies are Apple, Zoom, and Instagram. They create Web3 solutions for B2C led companies. 

  9. Paradigm 

    Venture capital firm Paradigm led the round for non-fungible token marketplace OpenSea. The company raised $300M in a Series C funding round at a $13.3B post money valuation, according to the company's blog post. Paradigm has its hands in Magic Eden and  Showtime making it one of the most major venture capital firms responsible for crypto investments of its time.

  10. Lyra Ventures

    Lyra Venture invests in innovative fashion technology firms reinventing the fashion industries in the Web 3.0 world. Their portfolio includes: Threedium, an e-commerce 3D and AR solution for brand development, Leprix, a B2B wholesale marketplace with pre-owned luxury goods retailers, and The List, the first social commerce platform connecting owners of luxury goods.
