Afterpay NFT Keys: How NFTs are Buying into Fashion Weeks

Afterpay is gearing up for an exclusive digital partnership with NYFW this fall. Five designers will be minting a limited number of NFTs for people to buy. These NFTs will be around $100 USD and can be bought in 4 installment payments through Afterpay.

These specific NFTs are using the hybrid ‘Phytigital’ model, a digital and physical presence, with minted NFT keys. Each NFT key provides consumers access to an exclusive experience or physical wearable(s) from top designers including: ATLU, anOnlyChild, Jonathan Simkhia, Kim Shui, and The Blonds.

For people looking to Mint an ATLU Key to NYFW, designer Joseph Altuzarra is offering an IRL NYFW Experience granting the key holder an annual membership to one of New York City’s premiere art museums with a curated exhibition list from the designer himself or a signature ALTU tote and oversized necklace T-shirt. The proceeds from the sales of this NFT will go to the Free Arts NYC.

Afterpay also created a limited number of free NFT keys. “Designed by leading 3D artist Amy Kilner, the Afterpay Key to NYFW lives in an ever evolving, pearlescent universe, inspired by the ability of NFTs to enable exploration of both creative and technological boundaries. It is a statement that we are entering into a new era, where access to NYFW is truly unlocked, and where our digital and real world experiences merge."

Fashion weeks around the world are embracing a ‘phytigital’ model incorporating both a physical and virtual presence of their collections on Web3. Earlier this year fashion’s elite created the first ever Metaverse Fashion Week allowing designers such as Etro to display their variations of digital wearables that have physical twins.

Designers are ramping up their Web3 presence and are looking for methods to use for creating and minting NFTs. An app allowing luxury brands an easier way to mint their physical goods converting them into NFTs is Authentique. This app works exclusively with luxury fashion brands by using visual recognition software instead of RFID tagging. The brand creates the NFT during the point-of-purchase of the luxury product and transfers it over to the consumer through the Authentique app.

Within minutes, the consumer is able to track the provenance and hold their very own digital twin of their physical product purchased at the store. This app is revolutionizing the digitisation of fashion and grants consumers a legitimate verification process of authenticating their physical luxury product. This in turn helps the consumer track and resell their products with ease of mind.

This app in essence is fighting against the counterfeit industry by creating a synergistic approach to purchasing and reselling luxury goods products by creating an NFT of the product on the blockchain.

As consumers look towards the future of fashion, there is a necessity inherent with every luxury product purchased to create a digital twin. Find out more about Authentique here.
